Real Madrid striker Ronaldo is no longer at the club where he spent five years as a star and where he was once described as the most important player in the history of the club.
But the Portugal international is still confident that his new deal will last for years.
“I am happy to stay here for a long time, I know what it’s like and I’m proud of this club,” he told reporters.
“This is my home and this is what I love, but I can’t believe the price we paid.”
It was unbelievable, it was amazing to see the passion that they had in terms of their fans and I just feel so proud.
“That’s why I wanted to leave, because this club is very special to me.”
You could say it’s my dream, but the dream never comes true.
I hope that in my next life I’ll see the team we have here.
“The 28-year-old Ronaldo is due to sign a new five-year contract on Wednesday.
The Madrid club are also reportedly keen to add a forward to their ranks and have been linked with a move for Barcelona forward Neymar.
And the new deal could be the final piece in a five-part package for Ronaldo.
The former Manchester United striker is expected to earn around £60m this season, and will have the option to extend his contract until 2019.
He has made just 12 appearances for Madrid this season and is yet to score a goal.
Ronaldo has also been linked to moves to Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Arsenal.
